Calligraphy is a revered art form that has existed for thousands of years and is considered a high art in Chinese culture. Join our resident calligrapher, Dr. Jiyu Yang, a classically-trained scholar from the Wisdom Arts Academy, at this Mid-Autumn Festival Moonlight Market to explore the styles and techniques of this ancient art.
Dr. Jiyu Yang received his doctorate degree of education from the University of Northern Iowa. Currently he teaches music and leads the Orchids and Bamboo Ensemble in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Yang also serves as Head of the Wisdom Arts Academy and is one of the standing directors of the Oregon Chinese Art Association. He teaches and is frequently invited to lecture on Chinese art, music, calligraphy and poetry at numerous universities and colleges in the Portland and Vancouver, WA area. He is a highly-talented Chinese scholar in the United States and is an accomplished Chinese musician, calligrapher and brush painting artist.
