Less than 1 percent of all tea in the world originates from Old Growth Tea Forest. These are the oldest tea trees in the world, some dating back over a thousand years. Dinshu, also known as Yixing is located on the western side of Lake Tai in Jiangsu Province. It is world famous for its clay teapots. The clay here is very flexible and can be fired at temperatures as high as porcelains. Resourceful tea drinking monks discovered that teapot made by clay in this region is ideal for tea brewing because of its porous structure and its distinctive mineral content.
Darjeeling, India located in the lesser Himalayas of west Bengal, at the elevation of 6700 feet, is one the best known areas for tea in the world. Unlike most Indian teas, Darjeeling tea is normally made from small-leaved Chinese variety of Camellia rather than the large-leaved Assam plant.
