Michael P. Jones is the Curator of the Mount Hood-based Cascade Geographic Society, a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization based on Mount Hood that he founded in 1979, whose purpose is to “preserve, educate, and promote the cultural, historical, and natural resources of the Cascade Mountain Range and all of the lands and waters it influences...” working on preservation projects related to the Oregon Trail, Native American sacred lands, and fish and wildlife habitats. He is an educator who, for twenty-three years, served as an adjunct instructor teaching teachers through the Continuing Education Department at Portland State University.
