The art of knotting is an ancient Chinese handicraft that dates as far back as the Tang (CE 618-907) Dynasty. Each design is made of a single piece of rope and named according to its specific form and auspicious meaning. In Chinese, "knot" means reunion, friendliness, peace, warmth, marriage, love, etc. The Chinese knot, with its classic elegance and ever-changing variations, is both practical and ornamental, fully reflecting the grace and depth of Chinese culture.
Wang Wei will lead this demonstration on traditional Chinese knot tying. Free with garden membership or admission; no registration is required.
