Lan Su Chinese Garden is pleased to offer a Photographer Membership for professional and amateur photographers. This yearly membership provides benefits created specifically for photographers including additional access to Lan Su, the ability to sell photos of the Garden, and invitations to events tailored for photographers.

$150 Photographer Membership
A Lan Su Chinese Garden Photographer Membership includes:
- Yearlong admission to the Garden and photo shooting during Garden hours
- Admission to the Garden on the first Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
- Admission to two additional photographer member-only access after hours
- Full rights to sell Lan Su Chinese Garden photos
- Invitations to special Photographer Member events, lectures, and workshops
All of the benefits of an Individual Plus Garden membership which includes:
- One guest free each visit
- Subscription to Lan Su newsletter
- Subscription to monthly Lan Su e-newsletter
- 10% discount in the Garden Shop
- 10% discount in the Teahouse
- Invitations to special member-only events
A Photographer Membership is non-refundable and non-transferable. Specific Photographer Member benefits are for Photography Members only.
Photographer Membership Policies
Photo Policies apply to Photographer Members at all times.
Policies for all Photographers
We ask all photographers to honor our policies when using the Lan Su Chinese Garden as a background for any photography.
- Keep equipment on pathways at all times.
- Use tripods only during specified hours.
- Be respectful of other visitors.
Portrait photo shoots are not included in this membership. Portrait photo shoots are only allowed before or after the Garden regular hours. For a fee of $250, you will receive up to two hours of private time in the Garden. Conditions
Lan Su Chinese Garden maintains the right to adjust these policies, in specific instances, in the best interests of the Garden and the general public.
The Photographer Member agrees to release form liability and to indemnify and hold harmless Lan Su Chinese Garden, it’s employees, agents and other representative from any claim for personal injury and loss of/or damage to property, including negligence, arising in connection with or resulting from the use of Garden facilities.

Lan Su Chinese Garden requires the location credit “Lan Su Chinese Garden, Portland, Oregon” in all uses of Garden photos in print, on the web, in broadcast, and in any other public medium.
Photo rights & usage
Lan Su Chinese Garden allows promotional usage of photos taken in the Garden by its current Photographer Members. The Events and Marketing Department reserves the right to use any and all photographs taken of the Garden to promote, market, and advertise the Garden. Lan Su Chinese Garden uses the images of a small group of sanctioned photographers for their marketing materials. The Garden at times also requests from Photographer Members Garden images for promoting, marketing, and advertising the Garden. We welcome the submission of Lan Su Chinese Garden images from all Photographer Members at any time. Please contact Scott Steele, Communications Manager
Using and selling photos of the Garden
Any photographer who uses images of Lan Su Chinese Garden for commercial, advertising, or promotional purposes is required to pay $150 fee for a one-year Photographer Membership, which includes many additional benefits. Without payment of the fee, it is strictly forbidden to sell or use images taken of the Lan Su Chinese Garden or the Lan Su Chinese Garden logo for commercial or promotional activities, which include but are not limited to publishing, marketing, educational materials, products and retail merchandize, general and web advertising, broadcast, or any situation where the photographer is paid for the use of the image. This fee entitles the payee to a one-year Photographer Membership with Lan Su Chinese Garden.
